UAE Accelerates Liveability Strategy with Dh42 Billion Expansion Plan
UAE has taken another major step towards strengthening community well-being and sustainable development. His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of UAE and Chairman of the UAE Executive Council, has approved a Dh42 billion expansion of the emirate’s Liveability Strategy, reaffirming the leadership’s focus on improving the quality of life for citizens and residents alike.
Investing in Healthier, More Connected Communities
Launched in 2023, the Liveability Strategy has already delivered significant results. More than Dh12 billion has been invested across 60 projects designed to promote well-being, social cohesion, and public health.
Under this initiative, UAE has seen the development of over 200 parks and sports courts, 24 new schools, 21 mosques, and 28 community majlises. In addition, the plan has supported the creation of 120 kilometres of walking paths, 283 cycling tracks, 220 kilometres of new street lighting, and 200 beautification projects, all contributing to a safer, more connected environment.
The next phase, led by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), will build on this foundation to further enhance accessibility, infrastructure, and quality standards across residential neighbourhoods.
Putting Community Well-being at the Centre
The first phase of the strategy has already yielded tangible outcomes — the integration of residential neighbourhoods across UAE has increased from 67% in 2023 to 81% in 2025, reflecting the government’s success in creating cohesive and well-equipped communities.
A Parallel Focus on Housing and Urban Growth
The Liveability Strategy complements UAE’s broader Dh106 billion housing master plan, which aims to develop 13 new residential communities comprising over 40,000 homes and land plots for Emiratis.
In partnership with leading property developers, this plan will see the construction of 25,244 housing units and 14,876 residential plots over the next five years. The initiative, unveiled in the presence of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, demonstrates the government’s ongoing efforts to provide Emirati families with high-quality, sustainable housing solutions.
Driving Innovation Through Digital Transformation
In addition to infrastructure development, Sheikh Khaled also reviewed the UAE Government Digital Strategy 2025–2027, which seeks to position UAE as the world’s leading AI-powered government by 2027. Backed by Dh13 billion in investment, the strategy focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into governance, service delivery, and decision-making.
The upcoming launch of TAMM 4.0 at GITEX Global 2025 will mark a significant milestone in this journey, introducing smarter and more responsive government services designed to meet the evolving needs of individuals and businesses.
A Growing Market for New Businesses
With large-scale housing and infrastructure projects underway, UAE is witnessing a surge in demand for supporting businesses and services. These developments are set to drive population growth, stimulate new investments, and open avenues for SMEs, contractors, consultants, and service providers looking to establish or expand their footprint in the emirate
